Street dancers jump for joy after winning trophies at international competition

Three street dancers are jumping for joy after winning trophies at an international competition.

Keira Byrne, aged seven, Macie Aspen, aged seven, and Lilly May Davis, aged five, are all members of the Under 10s dance team TinyRox.

The team qualified in May in Blackpool, for the UDO Worlds X Street Dance Championships 2015 and travelled to Glasgow during the Bank Holiday weekend to compete against dancers from all over the world.

Although the team did not make the finals, Keira, Macie and Lilly May made the cut in other categories.

Keira’s mum, Lisa Byrne, from Farnworth, said: “The girls absolutely loved competing in Glasgow.

“They got to be involved in the opening ceremony and walk up to the stage with British flags.

“There were more than 3,000 dancers there on the day so it was a lot of fun.

“Keira and Macie are cousins and both started ballet dancing at four years old but found it wasn’t for them and moved on to street dance when Macie was five and Keira was six.

“They are always practicing at each other’s houses. They just love to dance.

“I’m so proud how far Keira and Macie have come in such a small space of time, they are a credit to us.

"Their dance teacher, Laura, worked really hard with all the training preparing for the trip to Glasgow not only with Keira and Macie but with all the children that attended and we are very grateful and thank her."

Lilly May’s mum, Sarah Davis, from Radcliffe, said: “We’re over the moon. I couldn’t be more proud of Lilly, she trains so hard and leading up to the competition they were training four days a week.

“People watch her dancing and can’t believe her age. She dances so well.

“Our living room is full of her trophies and she was so excited to show this trophy to her old reception teacher at school.”

Keira and Macie competed in the Under 8s Intermediate Duo finishing third, while Lilly May, who attends St Andrew’s Primary School, in Radcliffe, came third in the Under 6s Solo category.

Macie, of Abbey Close in Radcliffe, also came seventh in the Under 8s Advance Solo.
